Nordstrom Credit Card Hell – suggestions?
-
- Hello,I made a purchase on my Nordstrom credit card last October.
- They made a few mistakes / did some things wonky, and I was careless, and I ended up with 2 negative dings on my credit.
- I escalated to a manager – seemingly as high as I could go, and fought it out with her (it was painful), and in the end she ended up
Should I get Nordstrom credit card
-
- I have the REI credit card and Best Buy credit card.
- All those give me 5% back, which is very nice.
- I tend to be loyal where I shop so I like to get their cards and I paid off in full so I don’t pay any interest so I don’t care about APY.
- I’m trying to decide between the US Bank cash plus or Nordstrom card.
- I kind of regret getting the REI credit card because I can get 5% back already with my FutureCard and cash+ would give me 5% on that as well.
- All the other categories are not helpful to me for the cash + card so it would really be only for Nordstrom.
- Maybe every once in a while for Dick’s Sporting Goods, but even then the US Bank cash plus has limits to cashback for 5% per quarter and removed purchase protection so I don’t understand what would be best.
Nordstrom credit card closed without warning
-
- I have had a nordstrom retail card for over 25 years.
- I have never missed a payment and I am not over my limit.
- They just randomly increased my credit limit by $2,200 nine months ago.
- The card is not inactive.
- I am also a Nordstrom employee.
- They have closed my card without warning.
- I called to request information regarding this and they would not provide me with their reasoning.
- Nordstrom managers stated they cannot do this without warning and credit refused to provide information.
- I spoke with 4 different individuals at the credit card company and they stated the card “was set to close” or “was closed” and they could not do anything nor would they do anything.
- I refuse to work for this company anymore.
- Can someone please give me guidance on how a credit card can randomly close without notice when you have been paying on time, above the minimum, not going over your balance, and currently show a perfect payment record for 25 years with all 3 credit bureaus?
Ask credit card company for discount to pay card off in full?
-
PRSMesa182: I don’t think I have ever heard of something like this for a random CC bill that hasn’t been sold to a 3rd party debt collection agency.
-
elitest: I would not request this. If they agree to it they will probably write it off as a default and ruin your credit. Paying it off in full is it’s own reward, i.e. no more interest and a better credit score.
-
the_los: For them to give you a discount, you have to be in default and if you’re in default on the card(s), you won’t be able to get a mortgage for a while.
-
OP: Hey … so I’m currently saving for a house and slowly improving my credit score, I have two credit cards one with a 200 dollar balance (Nordstrom) and one with a ~2000 dollar balance (citi) My boyfriend suggested I call citi card and ask if I can pay off a lump sum payment and get a discounted amount if I do that? I hope I’m wording this right – I didn’t know this was a possibility. I’ve had this same card since I was 18. I plan to pay off $700 by end of August to about $1300 and have $800 in cash just sitting in my bedroom in a shoebox that I can pay this off with. Anyone ever do this? Advice please! Thanks. I’d be able to pay off more but I am in a ton of weddings in the fall and can’t afford to do it all, so some money saving would be great.
